Gospel Industry Tip Of The Week 7/5/10

Empower Your Dream.

I love creative people, particularly artists, musicians, singers, and songwriters.  It is a beautiful thing to be graced by God with the gift to draw from your thoughts and experiences, reshaping them into elements that express emotion, color and truth through song.  Great artists give life to our dreams.

I am inspired by that concept every day, which is why I’ve made it my goal in this little blog to give back to the creative minds who’ve blessed me by helping the next generation of artists to add substance to their dreams.

Today it’s time for a pep talk.  If you’re someone with a dream for your gift, if you’ve longed for the chance to share your music or ministry with a broader audience, if you’ve ever turned to the pages of this blog looking for information that might be the missing page in your success story, you are my intended audience right now.

I’m going to spend the next few hundred words coaching you as hard as I possibly can.  Think of this as the high-intensity cardio part of your mental workout for the day.

Consider these bits of truth:
• The loving God of the universe created you with a specific dream in mind.
• He intentionally filled you with unique gifts and talents to accomplish that dream.
• He only made one of you.

Now consider this:
• The enemy knows you were created for God’s glory.
• He hates the thought that you might actually become what God intended.
• He’ll try to use your fears, character flaws, and circumstances to keep you from becoming what you were created to be.

And finally this:
• The enemy is already defeated through Christ.
• The only thing stopping you from becoming the dream God dreamed…is you.

A powerful thing happens when you recognize how big God is and how strategic He was in forming you.  When you finally see yourself in your proper place in Christ, you become empowered to fulfill His dream for you.

You need to understand this: A person with a heart yielded to the purposes of God doesn’t have to struggle so much.  Because God is the one eternal source, the man or woman who is yielded to His design will have endless resource.

Our heavenly Father knows our needs and He has determined to be not merely our provider, but our provision.  (If you have any doubts about that, spend a few weeks meditating on Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:25-34 and see what happens to your perspective.)

So, I’m pushing you hard.  I’m pushing you as hard as I can to embrace these truths.  I need you to know who you are.  I need you to understand the weight of your dream.

When you get rightly aligned with God’s vision and strategy for you, some necessary doors will open.  You’ll be amazed at how God positions you and how the Holy Spirit will teach you what you need to know in order to thrive.  When you get rightly aligned, people’s lives will be blessed and you will finally be fulfilled.  I believe that’s the true definition of abundance.  All the rest is just icing.

Now, I need you to do me a favor.  Print this blog.  Print these words and put it in your journal or in your Bible, or tape it to the mirror in your room.  Keep it somewhere where you can easily access it when doubts and fears and uncertainties come.  Don’t be ashamed if you have to read it often, and sometimes out loud.

The world is full of dreamers, my friend; but dreamers without substance just spew noise and fluff.  Today I am asking you to commit to be more.  Add substance to your dreams by embracing these truths.  You’ll be changed and the world as you know it will begin to change.  Determine to empower your dream.

This is what I needed to start my week!  Keep the dream alive and don’t let it die; if something deep inside is inspiring you; then don’t stop!
